Ebtesam Mokhtar

Ebtesam Mokhtar is a writer, translator and visual artist from Egypt.

Based in Cairo, Mokhtar works with different mediums including video, photography, sound, paint and text.

With a B.A. from the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University, she completed the year-long program at Cairo Institute of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CILAS).

Ebtesam co-founded and managed the content and team of Manshoor.com. Her articles were published in key Arabic sites including sasapost.co. She also worked on several book translations including a children’s book published by the Dreamwork Collective, where she is the Arabic Editor.

Besides her work in the content creation and English-Arabic translation industry, Mokhtar directed two documentary films: I Didn’t Know Cairo Was that Big (2015) and Closure (2022).

When Ebtesam is not working on her own arts, you will find her coordinating a workshop or programming a festival for the Between Women Filmmakers Caravan.
